Life/Lifting with Herniated Disk

Just confirmed with disk herniation and was told options were shot for pain, PT, or surgery if pain is severe enough. I’m a little over 2 months in from my injury which I believe happened while doing deadlifts while at the gym. I had no immediate pain while at the gym but I see no other way I could of got the herniated disk. What is your experience for those of you whom have also had a disk herniation? How did you rehab? Were you able to return to lifting (ie. Deads, Squats?) Yesterday was my first day back but all I was able to do was some cycling and treadmill at incline with stretching before and after.
Here are the results I got from doc, thinking of getting Images of MRI later just $ 25 and picking them up. Any insight on your experience after a disk herniation would greatly help me, thanks.

X-Ray Lumbar spine

Impression
No acute finding. Spondylolysis and grade 1 spondylolysis at L5-S1.
Evaluation with MRI is recommended to rule out a disk herniation.

MRI Lumbar Spine

Findings
L1-L2
L2-L3
L3-L4
L4-L5 Diffuse angular bulge is seen with bilateral posterior lateral predominance resulting in bilateral foramina narrowing and nerve root impingement.
L5-S1 Diffuse angular bulge is seen with bilateral posterior lateral predominance resulting in severe bilateral foramina narrowing and nerve root impingement.
